Worship Ministries
The Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is a quiet but essential ministry that cares for the sacred space of the church. Members of the Guild prepare the altar for worship, setting out vessels, linens, bread and wine used in the Holy Eucharist. They launder linens used during the service and keep the church’s silver and brass clean and polished.
Membership in the Altar Guild is open to all. Email the office to get in touch with an Altar Guild Chair and learn more.
Acolytes
Acolytes support the worshiping life of the church. They carry processional crosses and candles, hold the Gospel book, and otherwise assist the priest in worship. Christ Church welcomes acolytes of any age. Contact the priest to inquire about serving as an acolyte.
Lectors
Lectors read the word of God during worship. This ministry requires careful preparation, clear speaking, and a prayerful approach to the text of Scripture. Email the priest to learn more.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers
Lay Eucharistic Ministers (also called chalice bearers) assist in the distribution of Holy Communion during worship service. At Christ Church, Lay Eucharistic Ministers also read the Prayer of the People. Get in touch to learn more.
